What do you have?

This sunday(23rd Sept, 2007), we had a guest speaker. Mr. Saji.K.John, Director, Asia Region, Geneva Gobal came along with his friend Nick.
We had a good time of worship singing both malayalam and english songs .
Saji.K.John preached from the Word of God. He preached from the topic "Submitting whatever little you have to God"
He explained five incidents from the Bible where encounter with God happened and alwys the question God asked is What do you have?
1. Encounter of Moses with God - exodus 4:2
Here Moses is a runaway, lonely in the desert looking after sheeps. But God's purpose about Moses is different. So Lord asked this question and Moses answered honestly. The rest is history and Lord used Moses and and his rod to deliver Israelites from Egypt.
2. Encounter of God with a family - 2Kings 4:6
Story about the widow and the family. Prophet asked "What do you have?". Its only little oil. But Lord used that to redeem that family from creditors.
3. Encounter of group of people with Lord - John 21:5
Desciples tried their level best, applying all their skills, but no result. Then Jesus confronted them with a question. That changed the destiny.
4.Encounter of God with a team - Mark 6:38
What they ahve is 5 loaves and two fshes and task in hand is nearly impossible. But when it is given to God's hand, the problem is solved and you had plenty.
5. Encounter of God in a village - John 2:1-11

In all these what he emphazized is . it does not matter how much you have or what you have. If you can submit that to God, God will use it nad your destiny will be changed.

Later we had our new friend , Anish working in Usha Mullappady Hospital, giving his testimony. All together it was really a good tim ein the presence of the Lord.

Church is..

The Greek word for "Church" is ecclesia which means the company of those called out. The come-outers constitute the Church. This truth is underlined throughout the Scriptures. David began his Psalm pointing out the blessedness of separation (Psa 1:1). Peter's Pentecostal sermon ended with the words, "Be saved from this crooked generation" (Acts 2:40). The first page of the Bible speaks of the division between light and darkness. The last page stresses the difference between the insiders and the outsiders. There can be no fellowship between the two. Though we are "in" the world, we are not "of" the world. It's not running away from the world, but releasing our minds and hearts from the captivating ways of the corrupt world. We must behave as "strangers and pilgrims... in a foreign country" (Heb 11:13,9). The world will certainly hate us for that (Jn 15:18,19). But this is the basic cost of a life of obedience.

Go, ere the clouds of sorrow steal o'er the bloom of youth;
Defer not till tomorrow, go now, and buy the truth
Go, seek thy great Creator, learn early to be wise;
Go, place upon His altar a morning sacrifice! (Songs and Solos 1128)

Today's Quote

Evangelising the evangelised, Reaching the reached,
Blessing the blessed, Converting the converted,
Baptizing the baptized, Comforting the comforted,
But neglecting the neglected
this is sin! (R. Stanley)

Worship - 100%

This sunday (September 9, 2007) we had a wonderful time in the presence of Lord. There is no preaching(except last 15-20 minutes), no testimony , only worship. Jacob uncle from Kochi was present today and he lead the worship. Lord gave him special talents in leading worship and he lead the entire church in a spirit filled atmosphere.It was a wonderful time mixed with praises, exhortations based on his experience. He is the Kerala state co-ordinator of National Prayer Movement.
Last 15-20 minutes Pr. Jacob George from Kerala shared the word based on Luke 10:19-20. He is now working as a missionary in Sangareddy, in Medak of Andhra Pradesh state.
He emphazized the need for a close relation with Holy Spirit so that our spirit can interact with Holy spirit, because Lord wants a close relationship with man.

We also had church general body meeting after the service. It lasted for around one hour where church secretrary(T.E.John Uncle) presented the report for last one year and church treasurer(A.G.Thomas Uncle) prsented the income/expense details. It was marvellous to hear how Lord blessed the church in last one year spiritually and on all other fronts.
